LWF Sport Horses - A Boarding, Breeding, and Training Farm in Ortonville, Michigan

In February 2008 Lost World Farms, LLC purchased a new farm on Briar Ridge Road in Ortonville, Michigan. There are 29 12×12 stalls with mats and Nelson automatic waterers, 12 of these stalls are in a heated barn, 2 indoor arenas – 1 is 66×120 and the other is 90×210 and heated with a large heated observation room with a full kitchen. There are also 2 outdoor arenas – 1 for jumping with a full course of jumps (pictures coming soon), and 1 for dressage. All the paddocks have run-ins, automatic waterers, and 4 board fencing, some are for private turn-out and some are larger for multiple horses, broodmares, and young horses. A riding trail circles the entire property that also includes a separate shed for equipment, a hay barn, and 15 acres in hay. Melissa lives on the property and will be joined by a fellow rider/trainer who attended the University of Findley in Ohio and has experience, riding, showing, training, and caring for horses, in addition to management experience. (More information on her coming soon).

Stall boarding is available for hunter, jumper and dressage horses starting at $700.00 per month. This includes feeding three times a day, turn-out in a private paddock, blanketing, holding for vet and farrier, and other basic care. Pavel Zhuravlev ("Pasha") is the trainer for hunters and jumpers and he is here three times a week, and Alison Allen is currently doing dressage training once a week.

Pasture boarding is available for broodmares and young horses starting at $400.00 per month. This includes grain feedings twice a day and hay as needed (the pastures have lots of grass) in large paddocks and pastures with run-ins and automatic waterers, holding for the vet and farrier, and other regular care as needed. Foaling out of broodmares, training of young horses, and starting of young horses is also offered for an additional fee.

This is now the home of Patrick and we are collecting him here for fresh cooled semen and will also continue to offer frozen. Mares can come in to be bred and return home when they are confirmed to be in foal using the services of Don Ryker and Associates, or they can remain longer. We have cameras and foaling alarms so that the mare can be watched closely and the vet is only fifteen minutes away, if needed. We will also halter train the foal and work with their leading, standing for the vet and farrier and other necessary training to ensure that the foal is safe and comfortable with regular handling and ready for further training.

Lost World Farm in Highland, Michigan

Lost World FarmLost World Farm is owned by Leo and Linda Wanstreet. It is a small private farm where the mares and foals decorate the paddocks in the spring as well as an occasional horse for their daughter, Melissa, who rides and competes Jumpers. A small pony might show up in a year or two if their grandson, Chaise, continues his interest in the horses. Situated in Michigan's first designated "Horse Community" of Highland Township, the farm includes ten acres of rolling hills with an abundance of trees that the horses really appreciate on hot summer days. The name "Lost World Farm" came from Linda's feeling of existing in another time when at home watching the horses graze and romp, as well as all the other wildlife that claim part of the farm as home during various times of the year.

Linda Wanstreet - Owner

Bim BambinoFrom 2004 thru 2006 Linda learned and competed with the Dutch WB gelding Bim Bambino, a Grand Prix Schoolmaster. Earning her bronze medal in 2005 with scores from Patrick in 1st and 2nd level and Bim Bam in 3rd level, and her silver medal in 2006 with scores in 4th level and Prix St. Georges on Bim Bam. He went on to a new owner and home in Florida in 2006 and in November 2007 Linda purchased an 8 year old Hanoverian mare with the new show name of Fiora as her new dressage prospect. Fiora is showing lots of potential to become a FEI level competition horse and possibly even taking them both to Grand Prix in the future! Watch for pictures coming soon!

Melissa Wanstreet - Manager

Melissa Wanstreet joined her mother, Linda, in 2006 on the farm to help with the growing herd of young horses. Melissa started riding in the hunter ring and was Adult Amateur Reserve Champion in Michigan her first year competing. She followed that by attending Findley University in Ohio majoring in Equestrian Studies and competing in hunters and jumpers in Ohio and on the East Coast. After being away from the horse business for a few years to have a son and spend time with him, she is eager to get back in the saddle with her new horse, Pulsar, a 2005 Patrick son. She will also be assisting in the training and starting of the young horses.

Pavel Zhuravlev - Hunter/Jumper Trainer

Pavel "Pasha" A. Zhuravlev began training and showing Patrick in 2007. Pasha won three National Cups in Russia at the Grand Prix level and won the Moscow Cup Indoor Grand Prix. Additionally, he has shown horses at the East Coast Finals in the young Jumper Championships and numerous other successes in various levels of competition. Pasha is also assisting with the starting and training of the young horses at Lost World Farm and has already started showing the 1st Patrick son, Polaris, in the hunter ring.
